Technique

The images in this body of work have been created by mixing traditional photographic techniques and digital technology. Each piece begins as a traditional photograph, shot on 35mm Tri-X film. The film is processed and contact sheets are made. At this point, the small contact prints are digitized by a scanner and enlarged. Using Adobe Photoshop, each is turned into a duotone image, allowing for a sepia color base. This creates a somewhat soft and dark quality, emulating photographic albumen prints of the late 19th century.
